Gone Away ~ The journal of Clive Allen in America

Rhyme Time
04/01/2005

My morning has been spent in assembling a desk for this computer. Amazingly, all went without a hitch and I can now convert from my rather ramshackle affair of two small tables supporting monitor and keyboard to something actually designed for the task.

It has meant that I have not been able to write anything today, however, but Harry reminded me of a little something that I wrote as long ago as 1968. This should keep the ball rolling for the moment - it is, after all, my one and only attempt at a poem that actually rhymes!

Plant

Oh deep in thy vegetable heart of matter
What humus thoughts grow thou
Tomorrow you feed on their rotting flesh
Though they may pluck thee now

Clive

Harry
Ack! He beats me again, dag-nabbit.

(but mine's longer, he snickers)

I don't do new year resolutions, but I might attend to one on my mind now.

I hope "pithy" is a good word. Ali used it, smiling and saying, "Sorta like a plant."

Now I got to go look that up. :D

Gone Away
I know a joke about "pithy". But I better not tell it...

I'm thinking "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" may have been based on a true story.

Never been into haikus myself, Josh, but, if you're interested, go to http://hannah-the-feathered.blogspot.com/, click on Archives December 2004 and scroll down almost to the bottom. You'll find some there. :)

YES!!! I've finally done it.... three days of reading and reading and I have caught up with all of the blogs I follow, this being the last of them. Now, thanks to my new friend, Sharpreader, I am confident in my ability to keep up from here on out.
