Not so good
06/05/2005
I know I haven't been posting much recently but I've been concentrating on my upcoming bike test. Which I did yesterday and failed...
Bugger.
At the very first roundabout there was a Ford Fiesta sat in the middle of the two lanes. The instructor had told me to turn left on the roundabout so I looked at it's left indicator and it wasn't on, "ok" thinks I "it's going straight on and I can go to its left". I slipped down its left and headed off.
When we got to the end of the test the examiner told me that it had been indicating left and that therefore my manuever had been very dangerous and I'd failed (he also didn't like the hurried way I pulled over when asked to stop but that wasn't a failing issue). Now my instructor thinks that what happened is that the Fiesta realising I was going down its left quickly flicked its left indicator on, so it appeared to the examiner that I was pulling a dangerous move. I suspect he's right...
I retake the test in two weeks time. I wish it was today, the wait to get a big bike is killing me.

If in doubt, hang back.
Mind you, saying that if I ever come up to someone sitting in the middle lane of two at a junction or roundabout I will go past them and make sure i'm away before they are. An experienced biker would be able to pull this off safely. Unfortunately, taking your test you must do everything by the book and common sense and experience go hang.

Some people forget that you can have a fair bit of experience riding a bike before taking a test. I rode an NSR125 for almost three years all over the country on L plates.

Unlucky Bruh,
Sparx is right though, if in doubt hang back on your test, they will fail you for anything.....your examiner may be nice but he makes money outr of you failing so does he really want you to pass????? bastards the lot of em. I hated doing my driving test it made me nervous as hell (and you know i dont get nervous easily). Im not sure what it is about the test but id rather cut me knob off with a rusty spoon than sit it again.........so good luck;)

Cheers guys, next time I'll ride like an old granny. Yeah that's the funny thing about the bike test Sparx, I've been riding for months now; I've racked up thousands of miles. So it feels really strange to have to go and do a test. For instance on the way back from the test me and Paul my instructor had a blast, he was riding hard but he didn't lose me for a minute! Seems daft that I can ride like that but the guy wouldn't pass me... ho-hum. Next time.

Josh
I failed my motorcycle test the first time. I also failed my driver's license test the first time.My Cisco professor has been dropping hints to the class about how we should really not sweat it if we fail the first time.I feel for you, bubs, but in 2 weeks, it will be a memory. Godspeed Bubsie Kneivel. ;-)
